01 遊 覽 sightsee 「嗨，我是一座海岸城市」—— 一到基隆公車站，就被海的氣味迎 接。這對我而言既熟悉又親切，因為 我在德國的海岸生活了近十四年。基 隆還有一種「好像快要下雨了」的恆 常氣味。不過，最大的氣味集合地， 無疑是熱鬧的廟口夜市，這裡的氣味 像是深潛在各種烤肉串、炸地瓜球、 沸騰的湯鍋、新鮮的海鮮等眾多味道 之間。 每當我穿梭於黃燈籠和溫暖照亮的小 吃攤間，我的味蕾已準備好被滿足。 基隆的小吃攤像一座味覺遊樂園， 無數小吃攤可以逛，可以嘗試任何 食物，並帶給我意想不到的風味和口 感。比如基隆營養三明治，我之前不 知道它這麼甜。酥脆的外皮更像甜甜 圈，而不是我熟悉的三明治口感。另 一個有趣、但我在德國飲食中從未嘗 過的口感，來自台灣肉圓。肉圓的口 感黏滑，搭配濃稠的醬汁讓人驚艷， 吃起來有趣且味道非常美味。 ‘ Hello, I am a coastal city ’ – I was unmistakably greeted by the smell of the sea at the Keelung bus station the minute I arrived. A well-known and homey smell to me, since I ’ ve been living on the coast in Germany for nearly 14 years. Another base note is the constant smell of ‘ will it rain in the next minute ’ ? The biggest conglomerate of odours I found is definitely the vibrant Miaokou night market, a deep dive of smell between sizzling skewers, deep-fried sweet potato balls, bubbling soup pots, fresh seafood and many many more. Whenever I walk between the yellow bright lanterns and warmly illuminated food stalls, I brace my taste buds to be spoiled. Keelung is a flavour amusement park to visit the countless food stalls and to try anything that comes my way. The food often surprises me with unexpected flavors and textures. The Keelung Sandwich for example is actually – I didn ’ t know – really sweet. Its crispy outside comes closer to a donut than being a sandwich that I am used to. As someone who is also not accustomed to slimy textures since they play no part in German cuisine, another interesting experience for me was the Taiwanese Meatballs. Their slimy texture and viscous sauce surprised me with the fact that they are quite fun to eat and also come with a very pleasant taste.
